Hong Kong people have spoken. And the message was a stinging rebuke of embattled leader Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor and her administration: they cannot continue as if it’s business as usual after six months of a protest crisis that appears to have no resolution in sight. Voters made plain their dissatisfaction with her leadership and her allies, the pro-Beijing district councillors who saw their control of 18 councils obliterated to just one as democrats took over the reins.
