They are back. After nearly two weeks of lying low, black-clad radical protesters resurfaced on Sunday evening to trash mainland-linked businesses, vandalise traffic lights, lob petrol bombs and attack MTR stations. But their mayhem was contained to Whampoa and Mong Kok, hardly of the same scale as their earlier waves of destruction. Their actions punctured a relatively peaceful day of three rallies: to oppose tear gas; to thank the United States for passing legislation that could impose sanctions on Hong Kong and a march of tens of thousands pressing on with their five demands against the government despite the historic victory of the opposition camp last weekend amid record voter turnout. To cap off the eventful week, the 13-day police siege of Polytechnic University -- one of several campuses where over 10,000 petrol bombs were made -- finally ended. What will next week bring?
